Janet Brand Kaz

Janet Brand Kaz joined Pembroke IV in 2013 to serve as Director responsible for the coordination of Corporate Governance and Asset Management. Janet also provides underwriting and due diligence support for acquisitions. Over Janet’s more than 30 years of experience in commercial real estate, she has held positions in just about every aspect of real estate investment including acquisitions, asset management, dispositions, compliance and information management.

Prior to joining Pembroke, Janet was a Vice President at Lexington Realty Trust (NYSE-LXP), a New York based REIT, Over her 15 years at LXP, Janet’s role evolved from Asset Manager to Compliance Officer and Information Manager for the company. As Asset Manager, Janet managed a nationwide portfolio of office, industrial and retail properties. Her responsibilities included leasing, capital improvements, dispositions, insurance/risk management, management of environmental and engineering issues, asset valuation and budgets.

As Compliance Officer and Information Manager, Janet engineered the reorganization of the asset management department; hiring additional asset managers, opening satellite offices and cataloguing key asset data. To support the growth of the REIT, Janet created policies and systems that leveraged her experience as an asset manager to identify and effectively manage risk. These systems included coordination of tasks and information flow between the acquisitions, accounting, legal, investor relations and asset management departments. Janet also created a procedure guide which provided corporate-wide guidelines for the management of an asset from initial acquisition to disposition.

Prior to joining LXP Janet spent 7 years with its predecessor, Lepercq Capital Partners. While at Lepercq Janet analyzed potential acquisitions of net leased properties, designed, created and implemented a database to manage pending acquisitions and deal information, negotiated asset management and insurance language for portfolio financing documents and worked on the “roll-up” of former limited partnerships (Lepercq Capital Partners) into a REIT (Lexington Realty Trust).

Janet graduated from Muhlenberg College in 1985 where she double-majored in Business and Spanish. Janet completed the New York University School of Continuing Education Diploma Program in Real Estate in 1989 and seminars at The College of Insurance in 1996.
