Richard Hamlin

Richard C. Hamlin is a commercial real estate law practitioner with substantial experience in a wide variety of transactions throughout the country. His expertise includes representing owners and developers in the acquisition, financing, leasing and sale of real estate across a variety of sectors, including central business district office buildings, suburban office buildings, warehouse distribution facilities, manufacturing facilities and refineries, hotels, multi-family apartment buildings and commercial and residential condominiums, shopping centers and malls.

His clients have included a New York Stock Exchange listed REIT, an investment advisory firm for a major Middle Eastern pension fund, insurance companies, public and private corporations, private developers, construction companies and domestic and foreign high net worth individuals. In addition, through out his career, he has represented numerous individuals in the purchase, sale and financing of residential real estate, including single family homes, condominiums and cooperative apartments in New York.

He attended Phillips Exeter Academy graduating cum laude in 1968, Columbia College in New York graduating magna cum laude in 1973 and Rutgers School of Law in Newark graduating with honors in 1977.

Prior to opening his own firm in January of 2011, he was of counsel to Crowe Deegan LLP from 2003 through 2010, of counsel at Paul Hastings Janofsky & Walker LLP for six years and a partner at Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle in New York for eight years. Prior to that, he was vice president and general counsel of Lepercq Development Company, a hotel development company based in New York. He is a long time Zen practitioner and is a member of the board of directors of Zen Mountain Monastery.
